Ultimately what lasts? And what remains?
The human race is always striving for something. Despite already being the biggest country in the world, Russians are striving for more land as we speak. Even with all the money in the world, the rich constantly strive to be richer. The well-known celebrities and influencers constantly strive to up their looks. To look prettier than before. To be more liked than before.
Take the story of Snow White. Despite being the prettiest, Snow White still strived to be prettier.
Our ego holds satisfaction with the title we carry. A failure to live up to the title we identify ourselves with becomes a threat to our being. Who are we if not the different identity we carry ourselves with?
Even us, those of us who are more on the average side on the grand scheme of two extremes, strive to get to the next part. To achieve the next target. To flip the pages to our next chapter.
There is something about the way we were created that we hunger for more than what we already have. So much searching, pursuing, looking, seeking, and with what results?
Or do we perhaps hunger for what we used to have? Something our soul remembers? Something that our mind tries recalling in the wrong places.
To the one who longs to be loved, does being loved truly satisfy you?
To the one who strives to be perfect, do you ever feel fulfilled?
To the one who thinks money is the solution, does it help you feel content with life?
There is a land inside of us that is vast yet empty. We feel the desire to fill the emptiness, to add something to it. That something becomes a hunt for what our ancestors have left footprints: money, fame, fortune, love, entertainment, and fun. Which one holds the answer? We search yet we don’t know what the answer could be.
And we look because that is what we know to do.
We look but we often look in the wrong places. We most often don’t look for the one place that holds the answers: inside of us.
We are scared of what we would find inside. There is so much fear. So much anxiety. And much suffering.
If we can find a way beyond that, there is a path to freedom. Path for joy. Path for love to flow. Path for peace to live on.
The personal battle is to find that path. To walk that path. To live that path.
Reflective Question?
What are you fighting for?
