Surrender to the Unknown

I find doors quite interesting. And I can't say for sure if that started before I ever watched Narnia.
When we are opening a door to someone's house, we have this general idea of what a house looks like, but we don't know exactly how it is going to be. The layout, the furniture, the walls- it is all so different in every house. You can certainly find places that are very similar to each other, and yet it is never quite the same.
When you go to different countries, open the door to a different culture, you know even less of what is waiting for you on the other side of the door.
Like our human experiences. We don't know what it means to yes to certain opportunities or people. We can't know for sure what the outcome would be.

You don’t know what’s behind this door, and you can’t know for sure what is behind all the doors you are about to open in your life.
You can see it as something to dread, feel anxious about. In this case, you can have constant mental freakouts at the inevitable part of life, try to control your life more, or even walk in as cautiously as humanly possible.
Or you can see it as a big adventure as if you really are opening the doors to Narnia (I mean Narnia was inspired by real-life places too!)
By seeing it through the eyes of adventure, you can feel the excitement of what is to follow and let yourself look forward to all the cool, and amazing things that await you.
For me personally, I have definitely alternated between these two perspectives, but seeing the world through the eyes of an adventurer certainly gives me more excitement, fun, and joy. And that is something I certainly love experiencing!
However, there is a sense of safety and security in knowing. Fortune tellers are always so popular as they align so well to this human desire- the desire to know what is to come. It's like if we know what is to come, we will feel secure in our present situations, prepare better for the bad events to follow, and walk through the doors of life more confidently.
But future is not set in stone. If it was, where would human free will come into play? (The discussion of destiny vs free will is ongoing where I believe life is a combination of both. Our choices lead us to certain outcomes. Going into depth with this will be for another time.)
The truth is, as much as we like to know what will happen, what the 'right' choice/ option is, we cannot know for sure until it's already happened.
Of course, you can feel right in your gut about certain choices you take, but you can't know for sure until you can look back on the experience. Even then, there are times when we still don't know.....
All that to say, the uncertainties are the sure thing of life.
In other words, we know for sure that we can’t know anything for sure.
So I invite you to surrender to the unknown.
Sometimes we have clues about how we think our lives will play out but we can’t know for sure all the events that transpire into our lives. Some of us try to control all the little details of our everyday life- from the way we are dressed to the way we are seen by others. Still, there are far too many unknown factors in life.
To find peace in life, there comes a point where you have to choose to surrender.
To let go of what you think you know, and let life do its part.
We know what we are meant to know. Faith, trust, and inner knowing come from not knowing for sure.
Refective Questions
What is the door in your life you feel hesitant to open?
What is something you are holding on to so tightly?
What happens if you let go of it?
What does surrendering mean to you?
I invite you to choose one thing to let go of today.
May you feel lighter by letting go of something that no longer serves you.
