Past Lives

Writer's picture: usha hamalusha hamal

Let's consider that you chose this life, this particular life, to be born with these features and attributes, in this family or lack of….

Although your background, features, attributes, area may have made things difficult for you, it is within these difficulties that you have the opportunity to grow as a person.

So allow yourself to really consider and imagine that you chose this life.....

Then, consider why you chose this life?

I have been thinking about past lives a lot these past few months. Ranking high on the signature strength of curiosity, I have been doing some research and readings on past lives.

The ‘brainy’ side of me thinks it’s hard to know how it could be true. How can you evidence that past lives actually exist? Although there are many who can give you vivid descriptions of lives they lived previously, including detailed information of the place, culture, and time period, it does not make sense logically how that can be true.

Or does it?

But then when I consider the idea of past lives from my heart, it seems possible. Even having the feeling of having lived before lingers, and I find myself drawn to the knowledge that comes from understanding these.

Even if you do not believe in the idea of there being past lives, the morale still remains the same.

I invite you to keep your heart and mind open to the message behind past life experiences. There are some key elements that can shift your perception of your present life.

So imagine that past lives do exist. There have been multiple past lives but the impact of some lives seems directly linked to this current life. There is the whole world of karma and karmic relationships that comes to play, without us being aware of it.

Every life you have lived has been an opportunity for growth, learning, and a way of moving forward.

You learned many lessons of humanity and morality, but there were still many lessons yet to be learned Some of us perhaps have more lessons to learn than others.

There is a connection between past and present lives.

Every lifetime you live is a great adventure for your soul to grow to new heights. You have a chance to live, to love, to discover, to move past the difficulties, and experience the growth you are meant to be having.

There is a pattern to this life. A particular something that keeps on unfolding, repeating, reminding you that there’s more work to be done in some particular areas of your life.

I see this as a cluster of themes that pop in this life, reminding you time and time again that there is work to be done here. And perhaps, you have even consciously made the time to work on this aspect, and you find that there is still more work to be done.

For example, some common themes I encounter in my life are self-compassion, boundary setting, limiting beliefs, patience, etc.

You too have some clusters of themes in your life.

Before you came to this world, your soul chose this life. This particular life.

The purpose of this is to enable soul growth.

Below are some reflective prompts to support you in your growth. These are reflections I am doing for myself and I hope that answering these prompts also serves you.

Reflective questions

What are the lessons you are meant to be learning in this life?

What are some things that are particularly hard for you? Ideas, concepts, thoughts, problems, or issues that seem difficult for you to grasp?

What is the absence of something, which makes your life much easier? (It could be a person, an emotion, anything)

If someone was watching your story from the outside, what are the common themes they will find? What enables you to have peace?

What do you think your soul mission is (if you had to guess)?
